Do I still need a seperate box to recieve local HDTV, even though my satellite box has a seperate antenna input?

Good question, why just try it out?

Many satellite boxes have provisions for an antenna input for OTA reception. If your sat box has an antenna input, it probably will receive OTA, but its sensitivity may not be the same as your separate receiver. If the sat box is a later design, it could have a better OTA receiver than you now have.

Have the Dish company technician come out to solve it.

It depends on the HD package you purchased from DishNetwork. They do provide local channels in HD if you pay for it. Otherwise your Dish HD receiver should have an Local “Off Air” antenna connector on the back.
