Is there really that big of a difference between hdtv and regular tv?

I was planning on getting a big plasma or hdtv but I just don’t see if its worth all of that money.

    Yes. Look at them side by side and you’ll see the difference.

    Yes there is but to be able to appreciate it you need a HD feed.

    there is no regular tv they are either hdtv ,sdtv, or ed tv and the differance can be sound picture quality and looks.

    Yes , definitely. HDTV has a much sharper picture because it has so many more lines of horizontal resolution….1080 compared to 350 or so on analog tv. Besides, in 2009, all tv’s are going to have to be digital. If you buy a digital set now, you won’t have to add a set-top box in 2009. I have worked on tv’s since 1970, so you can trust my answer.

    us Techies…..high end users
    would NOT waste the money on it

    it’s not a $5,000 Chia Pet or pet rock here….

    not that it proves the point but 5X the bandwitdh….gotta be more quality there….

    It depends on whether you have HD input source. HDTV do no good if you still have a SD input source.
