Well…just make sure you get a HDTV and not one where it says HDTV - ready!
And then you also should make sure you can get HDTV programs…because usually you wont get that…so why get HDTV in the first place??
The LCD is crap compared to Plasma. Looking at them side by side I could never pay even $5 for the LCD. Save your money and buy the best.
LCD is a good choice. For one thing the screen won’t reflect light (glare) like a plasma will and they have better grey scale than most plasmas. Whatever brand you buy be sure to get one that has a lot of inputs especially HDMI. Most of the HD equipment like satellite or HD DVDs will use them.
The Nov issue of Consumer Reports is the annual electronics issue; article on LCD and plasma TV’s begins on page 29. You need to think in terms of resolution(1080p is the best), black level, brightness, and color accuracy.
Sony Bravia was the #1 rated 40″ LCD set.
Fujitsu Plasmavision was the #1 rated 50″ plasma set.
