I was wondering what would happen when the hdtv runs out of hrs of life? I read the difference between the lcd and plasma and they were saying 60,000 hrs and then the bulb would have to be replaced? How long do hdtv’s actully last??

Also it is really worth getting the extended warranty or protection plan when you buy it??

the screen will go dead and you can replace the bulb and get it to work again

if you can find a warranty for more than 6 yrs of watching your TV 24 hours a day. 60000/24/365=6.84 years

Most warranties are a waste. I agree with the fellow who did the math. A lot of places say you have to ship back your plasma to get it worked on within the first year, but that isn’t generally true, as it is cheaper for the company to send out a technician than handle and ship it back to you.
If you think it needs an extented warranty, I wouldn’t buy it.

Wow Having read those answers above I guess one they are very rich and 2 have alot of Tv savvy so they can repair there own TV. The rule of thumb for me anyway, If I can’t go and replace it and I would have to save more than a month in order to get it repaired I would buy the warranty. I paid about 2000.00 for one Tv that I have and that was a big purchase for my family. If something happen to it and I didn’t have the warranty I couldn’t just go and replace it. Plasmas depending on whats wrong with it can’t be fixed, meaning anything other than a power supply problem your done. If you paid 3000 and they are offering you a PSP for 300 or Less take it. Many are offering a 2 year plan with a option to buy 2 more at the end of that time. So unless you have money growing on trees take the time and buy it. I worked at Best Buy and I can’t tell you the number of people that was pissed because they didn’t. Hope this helps
